Lower St. Johns River Tributary Assessment Team wins a national honor, the Coastal America Spirit Award
The Tributaries Assessment Team, composed of several local and State agencies, investigated sources of bacteria in impaired tributaries discharging into the Lower St Johns River. Interagency coordination is required to effectively address bacteria sources because the agency that identifies the source may not be associated with the appropriate authority to implement the corrective action. The project improved water quality and created excellent communications between multiple agencies and empowered local governments to address public health risks.
