Wetlands Restoration in Upper Peace River Watershed
DEP is managing a large wetlands restoration and mitigation project at the Tenoroc Fish Management Area near Lakeland. The site is a former phosphate mine and part of the headwaters to the Peace River. The wetlands restoration will help restore the historic ecological connection between the Peace River and the Green Swamp that existed prior to the initiation of phosphate mining activities as well as surface water flows to Saddle Creek and the Upper Peace River.
