Restoring the Watershed's Natural Landscape

Past silviculture activities have transformed much of the watershed's natural habitat – converting it from natural old growth systems to fast growing harvest timber. In a partnership between DEP and The Nature Conservancy, large expanses of land are being acquired in the Perdido River watershed which had been impacted by silviculture activities. Restoration activities will include replacement of undersized and degraded culverts on Black Creek focusing on restoring wildlife transport and restoring the natural species diversity in the site’s ecosystems.
