The Alligator Creek Habitat Restoration Project is a multi-phase restoration project on lands managed by the Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park. During the 1960’s, significant alterations were made to the landscape. These alterations included miles of mosquito ditching and berms that have altered the hydrology of hundreds of acres of wetlands, and negatively impacted fish and wildlife habitat. The project is restoring these important habitats by backfilling ditches, removing berms and dikes, and removing exotic vegetation.
