Restoration of Harns Marsh Improves Water Quality

South Florida Water Management District, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Lee County and the East Count Water Control District are working on long-term projects to restore Harns Marsh, which includes the original headwaters of the Orange River. The project is designed to improve water storage and water quality while also providing improved habitat for wildlife. Included among the restoration efforts are sediment removal and planting of native vegetation.
